GEM DISCUSSION: NATURALLY FANCY BLACK DIAMOND

We all like the brightness and sparkle of diamonds, I mean who could resist? Most of the people vote for a colourless diamond as their favourite gemstone. But what happens with Naturally Fancy Black Diamonds?

The black colour of these diamonds is a result of a large  number of dark inclusions or clouds of mineral inclusions such as graphite, pyrite or hematite, which make the gemstone appear opaque. This, if combined with the high luster of the gemstone, gives an almost metallic appearance. Under the light, if you face any deep grey coloured areas, they are indeed the transparent areas in the stone.

Even though black diamonds have a hardness of 10 at Mohs scale, they are heavily included and might contain microscopic fractures. Thus, it makes it more vulnerable than the colourless diamond. I know that you love to have on your ring during all the day, but please be careful with it, so that you will keep it forever!

On the photo below, a ring by Tempus in rose gold metal with a round cut naturally fancy black diamond in claw setting and in pavé set colourless cubic zircons shoulders can be seen. It can be offered as an engagement ring, but caution should be taken, as mentioned above.

If you want to add an alternative touch on your outfits, then this is for you. Off course, colourless diamonds are more expensive and have a higher demand. However, through time everything can change.

Moreover, you don't have to wonder how you can match this ring or other kind of jewellery with natural black diamonds with your outfits. Exactly on the same way that you would do with a colourless diamond. After all, when you hear the word natural diamond, you start at a high level anyway.
