Choose Rose for Quartz

Quartz is one of the most abundant minerals in Earth's crust. It has different varieties, both crystalline and polycrystalline. But when it comes to choose one of them, I will definitely go for Rose quartz!I really love the light dusty pink colour of rose quartz. Not only it is so chic it is so much in fashion that you can find it almost in every piece of fashion, such as clothes, bags, shoes and off course jewellery!

Crystalline quartz is usually formed as geode. The geological process of its formation consists of volcanic rocks or other types of rocks, which have holes and they are filled with hot siliceous solutions. When these solutions cool, they slowly crystallize out as geodes in the holes. This abundant mineral belongs to the trigonal crystal system and it usually shows a six-sided prism with two sets of rhombohedra. It displays a vitreous lustre and because of its moderate hardness it is usually fractured. Indeed it has a hardness of 7 at Moh's scale. On the following photo you can see a colourless quartz rock crystal with one perfect termination and one fractured termination.

Rose quartz is the pale pink to deep rose variety of quartz. Rarely it is found as crystal form. Massing filled cavities in pegmatites is how it can often be seen.It is usually translucent and sometimes it might show needle like inclusions. When it does, it can be cut as cabochon in order to display a star effect.

When it comes to jewellery, rose quartz is very fashionable this summer season of 2018, because it fits the colours that are so much in fashion now. Pale pink, rose pink, saffron's yellow and deep orange are the biggest fashion trends for this summer. The first piece is a necklace comes from the serenity project jewellery and it is in a rose gold plated metal, with a beaded chain which I love and a cabochon cut rose quartz, on which they created some facets in order to make it look a bit different. This necklace is so affordable and wearable and it will be perfect if you get tanned during summer.

The second piece is from Monica Vinader and it is found on the right in the photo below. It is a bracelet in a 18ct rose gold vermeil sterling silver metal with a cabochon cut rose quartz gemstone. It can be worn together with other bracelets that you might already own and complete a beautiful style, especially for day otufits. If you want to create a bit more ethnic look, you can try the same style of bracelet but with different colours of gemstones, like the bracelet on the left of the picture and then you will add colour to your outfit.
