Natural Chrysoprase's uniqueness

Chrysoprase as a word, consists of two Greek words. 'Chryso' meaning gold and 'prase' for 'prasino', meaning green colour. Having said that, it is very easy to understand why this gem is so desirable. Off course, its colour!

This beauty owns an apple golden green colour and sometimes a darker shade of it and it can be found as translucent or opaque. Its hardness at Moh's scale is around 6-7. The most important factor about it, is that it belongs to the Chalcedony family. Due to the presence of Nickel, this gemstone gets its particular colour. The countries that it can be found are many, such as Tanzania, Western Australia, Poland, Russia etc.

Rough Chrysoprase

Moving on to jewellery pieces, there are some very pretty chrysoprase pieces that you can find online. One of my favourites is a pair of drop earrings in 18 carat gold vermeil on sterling silver metal by Davina Combe Jewellery. You can also find it on sterling silver metal. As you can see this pair has a knot design on the top and it features a natural round cut faceted chrysoprase. I find it so elegant and wearable for every occasion. The presence of chrysoprase adds colour on your outfit and the knot detail makes this pair of drop earrings more modern. It can be worn in every season and with many different outfits.
